Wargame release pipeline
As we get near the end of October I thought I would drop an update on the things I have in the pipeline.
There's two reasons for this;
1) someone out there in internet-land might be interested.
I would love to hear from anyone who is reading this, or has bought "D6 Derby" and is keen for more. I have a few irons in the fire and any feedback could affect the queue.
2) It helps me keep focussed to write things down.
At the moment "being my own boss" with regards to these projects means there's always the danger I procrastinate. If I use this blog as part blog part work journal it'll incentivise me not to get distracted by other shiny things.
My main aims for each of these games are to have games that can be played solo/co-op, introduce something unique in terms of mechanics, to have games that are fun to play, and to make them have enough choice in basic and advanced rules that anyone on their wargaming journey, from young initiate to experienced veteran can get a satisfying evening from them.
So, what am I working on?
D6 Derby additions
Well firstly with the release of D6 Derby on WargameVault i'm looking at adding combat rules and an improved "AI" opponent system. The current rules will give you a very predictable group of AI driven opponents, which lets you get into the swing of the race and not bog you down checking endless tables as some solo systems can. But what I want to do is add some extra crunch for those that want a competitor who will react more to the exact race situation rather than just race the track.
These will be updates to the current file, not a supplement. So anyone buying D6 Derby will get them for free when they're ready.
Fantasy Gladiators
Behind this game in the queue are a Horse and Musket mass battle game with some novel activation and morale rules ("By Fire or Steel"), a dark age / ancients mass skirmish game ("With Me!") where the action focuses on the morale or your leaders (and the movement of your warriors depends on where the heroes/characters move to) and a gothic skirmish game where the players cooperate to remove as yet unidentified threats from the board before they grow too strong.
If any of these interest you let me know, or keep an eye on this blog for news!
